Brief Description

The project focused on the development and implementation of an evolutionary and adaptive production system for manufacturing BOPP films with a high content of secondary raw materials, tracked through a new digital platform based on Blockchain technology.

As part of the activities, the database logic and information exchange protocols were defined, the Hyperledger Fabric technology was selected, and batches of plastic compounds were developed with rheological and mechanical performances comparable to virgin PP. These materials proved suitable for extrusion processes, showing reduced defects in the films.

At the conclusion of the project, several batches of biaxially oriented films were produced, manufactured with a high content of plastic granules derived from secondary raw materials. In parallel, a pilot web platform for supply chain traceability was released, a blockchain Proof of Concept was validated in a test environment, and software for data exchange with ERP systems was developed. Finally, the blockchain platform was put into operation in the production environment, ensuring secure, immutable, and transparent traceability of secondary raw materials.
